Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the largest and newest gate at Walt Disney World opened its doors on April 22nd, 1998. It consists of six lands, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Discovery Island, DinoLand U.S.A, Asia, Africa and Pandora. The park boasts rare character meet and greets such as Pocahontas, Timone, Tarzan, Baloo & King Louie, as well as Doug & Russel. It’s also home to Expedition Everest: Legend of the Hidden Mountain, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Dinosaur! Some of Walt Disney Worlds biggest and best thrill rides.
Lands and Attractions
Animal Kingdom with its rich culture and beautifully crafted lands whisks you off to far away continents like Africa and Asia as well as far off worlds like Pandora. Whether you want to stroll at a leisurely pace enjoying the scenic park or soar with mystical creatures of far off planets- this park has an adventure for you.
The Oasis – Is the first of the worlds you see upon entering the park. Its lush vegetation and running streams are home to several bird species. It is also the gateway into the park- transporting you into the beauty that is Animal Kingdom Park. It is here you will find the parks famous Macaw Parrots residing.
Discovery Island- This lush garden Island with its winding paths and trails acts as the parks central hub. With its feature – the Tree of Life standing proudly over- Discovery Island is a world of fun waiting to be had. From “It’s Tough to be a Bug” to its lively music and shops it has something for everyone.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch- This remote portion of Animal Kingdom Theme Park is devoted to the preservation and conservation of animals. It consists of the conservation station and the Habitat Habit! Here there are fun educational exhibits, animals are rehabilitated, and other educational experiences are had for the guest of the park, all revolving around world conservation and awareness for the creatures that share our planet.
Asia- Here the park is transformed to the continent of Asia. This portion of the park, home to Expedition Everest: Legend of the Hidden Mountain, Kahli River Rapids, and one half of the Rivers of Light Theatre, is adorned with flags, gorgeous statues and picturesque views.
